DEPARTMENT OF INDOLOGY
Department of Indology was established with the foundation of our Faculty. Philology and literature of Sanskrit Language, which is accepted as mother of languages in Indo-European language family, is studied in Department of Indology that means academic study of India. Grammar, philosophy, religion, mythology, history, history of theater, history of science is studied within literature and culture of Sanskrit language, which dates back to 1500s BC. National history, culture of Indology and relations between Indology and Turkish are researched in the lessons. Indian Language, which is one of modern Indian languages, is also taught.
History of Sanskrit philology, chronological distribution and contents of current texts, Devanagari alphabet (language of original texts), grammar, literature and culture history and text translation subjects are taught in four years undergraduate education.
Advanced Sanskrit grammar, study of texts on history of literature and culture history and translation into Turkish lessons are provided in postgraduate programme in the consideration of core knowledge provided in undergraduate programme.
Our department employs 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor, 1 Research Assistant and 1 Indian Expert. Indian Experts change in every three years. Graduates can work in government offices such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Culture, TRT and Private Televisions and Private Companies.
