DEPARTMENT OF ITALIAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE
Education period of Department of Italian Language and Literature, which has been training students since 1960, is five years including a preparatory year.
Preparatory language program aims at assisting the students in developing their knowledge of Italian grammar and Italian culture. The students attend lessons in order to develop their grammar, practice and speaking skills and acquire knowledge on roman history and culture.
Students have the opportunity to study twenty centuries of history, literature and littérateurs in details and analyze littérateurs and texts beginning from the second year. Translation lessons, which are included in the curriculum in the second year, develop translation skills of the students.
Courses include History of Rome and Italy, History of Italian Literature and authors and poets besides sub-branch courses such as Latin language, Mythology, Art History and etc. Practical and speaking lessons such as Audio-Visivo, Practical Italian, Oral and Written Expressions are involved in Department of Italian Language and Literature in addition to theoretical subjects.
Studying and teaching language, culture and literature of Italy, which significantly contributed to history of civilization, the department assists promotion of common intangibles and mentalities of Western Societies in Turkey.
Department of Italian Language and Literature carries out student exchange activities with several higher education institutes in Italy and Europe as part of Erasmus+ and Mevlana Exchange Programme.
Graduates of Department of Italian Language and Literature can work as teachers in language institutions (Conservatories, Italian College, TOMER and etc.), translators in several government agencies such as Prime Ministry, Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Private sector especially banks; textile, foreign trade or tourism sectors also offer job opportunities for the graduates.
